Plein air watercolor painting, completed during the Quick Draw event at the Bucks County Plein Air Competition 2013. This painting was awarded 1st Prize in their Quick Draw Competition. The Quick Draw was held on the grounds of the historic Parry Mansion in downtown New Hope, PA. The main part of the mansion is a mortared stone building with an addition of white clapboard. Also on the property is an old smokehouse.
In scouting out points of view to set up for the Quick Draw, this view is of the south end of the building. I was attracted to the three “ends” of the buildings with their different angles and the three very different chimneys.
Being a Quick Draw competition, the painting needed to be executed in less than two hours. Broad washes of color were placed in the “big shape” areas first and details added on top.
This painting is currently framed in gold wood to a size of 11″ x 14″ and is for sale. Contact me if you are interested or click on the button below to buy it now via Paypal.
