“Fading Glory” – 11″ x 15″

The glory of fall in Vermont is hard to match, even if it’s fading.

This painting started as a composition exercise and demonstration for a watercolor painting group.   The idea was to use dramatic contrast to create light and as a vehicle for rich fall color.

Bright color can overwhelm the best composition. In this painting, a range of grays and browns help mute the bright foliage in the landscape.
