Class Schedule:
Week 1 – March 20th – The Human Figure : Basic Proportions
The most basic mistake we make when painting the figure is in basic proportions. Learn basic proportions and how to apply them to a figure in this class.
Week 2 – March 27 – The Human Figure : Clothing/Folds/Gathers/Creases
Clothing generally drapes itself over and around the figure in predictable ways, creating folds and creases in the process. This class introduces ideas a simple ways to create them with watercolor.
Week 3 – April 3 – The Human Figure : The Clothed Figure
Pull together ideas from the first two weeks with exercises and follow-along demos to help you create great looking, simple clothed figures in watercolor.
Week 4 – April 10 – The Human Figure : Standing and Walking
Let’s get them moving! Standing and walking figures are the easiest of all. Practice getting relaxed movement in this class.
Week 5 – April 17 – The Human Figure : Sitting and Lounging
Figures that are sitting or lounging create the unique problem of foreshortenting. Overcome this problem with a practical approach in this class.
Week 6 – April 24 – The Human Figure : Figures In Your Scenes
In this final week, we’ll add figures to our scenes and make sure they look right using linear perspective to help!

6 week online class that includes:
- Weekly pre-class assignments for extra preparation and learning
- Recorded weekly critique of pre-class assignments
- Online Class
- Access to recording of each Online Class (available for at least a month after the last class)
Can’t make Monday evening classes? The combination of pre-class assignments, critique and class recordings allow you to work at your own pace and own schedule! Many folks take classes this way!
