Long winters have us longing for Spring – usually well before it arrives!
The concept began and ended with an unusually proportioned thumbnail sketch found in one of my sketchbooks. It is rare for me to work in a square format. This sketch – for unknown reasons – was composed as a square. It had never been turned into a painting. But, it seemed to offer possibilities for a light and airy early spring day with a long, panoramic view.
A range of light values, bright yellow greens, an overall cool temperature and bright sunlight from high overhead conveys a sense that winter has finally disappeared but warmth has not yet completely arrived.
