Winter on the wane.
With clear skies the sun was bright and imparted a warm glow to everything, including the snow which took on a warm glow as golden sunlight mingled with blue shadow. Hard to tell that it was 5 below at the time…
At this time of the year, the sun is strengthening as we approach the spring equinox. On this early morning, the sunlight was having a visual effect on the landscape, if not on the thermometer!
Endless Subjects In The Vermont Landscape
The subject of this painting is a farm situated near the intersection of Mt. Anthony and North Pownal Roads in Pownal, Vermont. It is one of those places that I have passed many times and thought “I ought to paint that”. Finally I have. The fortunate reality is that the small little corner of the world called Vermont, is filled with subjects for landscape paintings, if one only pays attention and stops to paint!
