As colorful as winter gets in the Northeast!
A gloomy morning greeted early risers on this first day of the new year. Very heavy overcast eliminated any chance of seeing good light effects. But, cloudy days tend to boost the intensity of color, even low-intensity colors like those of winter. The landscape is without much snow cover at the moment so all color that the landscape has to offer can be seen.
It is also the time of year that folks take a long view – both backward and forward.
So, for two reasons, it seemed like a good day to paint a long view.
This view looks south and southeast from Cold Spring Road in Shaftsbury, Vermont. Without snow, this landscape includes many colors, including the three primaries – red, yellow and blue.
Sometimes you have to look close, but they’re there.
