Watercolor Landscape and Seascape Painting
Three Day Workshop – Fee $295
Learn to paint beautiful, eye-catching watercolor paintings
APRIL 17 – 19, 2020 – CRANFORD, NEW JERSEY
OCTOBER 16 – 18, 2020 CRANFORD, NEW JERSEY
Who is this class for? This workshop is for anyone who wants to paint dynamic, eye-catching landscape and seascape paintings
What you’ll learn in this workshop:
This landscape painting class teaches you five important landscape painting skills:
- Simple design and composition principles that create eye-catching paintings
- Easy watercolor painting techniques that work well for showing landscape elements
- Making your skies look right
- Creating a focal points and moving the eye through the painting
- Taking control of the painting by “departing from the literal” – MOST IMPORTANT
We’ll work on at least one painting each of the three days.
Day 1 – Landscape painting day. Learn some simple composition rules to strengthen your painting; how to make skies look right; and using easy watercolor techniques to show various landscape elements.
Day 2 – Seascape painting day. We’ll apply everything from day one and cover various effective ways to create contrast in a landscape painting, and how to use them to create focal points in your painting.
Day 3 – “Artist’s Choice” – work on either a landscape or seascape, working hard to apply the principles and techniques from the first two days.
“Departing from the literal” will be an over-arching goal of the whole workshop – you’ll be gently reminded about that for the whole workshop.
It will be three busy but fun days. My workshops are very flexible and interactive. Questions are encouraged. We’ll work on some exercises together and some we’ll work separately but with plenty of guidance. We’ll end each day with a gentle review of the days work.
Suggested Materials: I recommend a basic set of watercolor materials for all classes and workshops.
