“Quiet Time”

Painting is 11” x 15” Framed to 16” x 20” in a simple dark molding

I would call this one a compositional piece, the result of explorations of shape and color placement combined witha a loose interpretation of a specific subject.

The subject is Vermont's West River which flows generally north-south through the narrow valley in the middle of the state.

This painting is based on a pencil sketch done near Jamaica, Vermont in 2017. The sketch was done in July but I really wanted a painting with the feel of late summer when the light and mood of the landscape are both changing.

Color explorations led me to an unusual limited palette for this one - Cobalt Turquoise, Indanthrene Blue, Indian Yellow, Cadmium Red.

The painting can be seen in my Studio Gallery or purchased directly online.
